Getting Back into Routine

cleanse tone and moisturiseIt’s that time of year when we are all getting back into routine – and that includes the skin care we may have neglected over the holiday period.

I’ve got three words for you: cleanse tone and moisturise!

But what I find as a beauty therapist, is that many people don’t understand why┬áthese three things are so important.

Step 1: Cleanse

Even if you never wear makeup, cleansing every day is essential for a healthy complexion. Cleansing doesn’t just remove makeup and sunscreen, a good cleanser will also:

  • gently exfoliate the top layer of dead skin cells, allowing the younger, healthier skin cells to come to the surface;
  • remove everyday dirt, grime, excess sweat and sebum;
  • clear the pores, reducing the bacteria and congestion that can lead to blackheads and break outs.

Step 2: Tone

Using a toner removes any traces of your cleanser, and causes your pores to close – not just to protect your skin, but improving your appearance at the same time.

Step 3: Moisturise

Moisturising helps to protect, hydrate and soften your skin. As your skin tissues are plumped up with moisture, fine lines are minimised.

There is a huge variety of products available to help you cleanse tone and moisturise regularly, but one of the benefits of seeing a beauty therapist is learning about the condition of your own skin, and which ingredients would be of most benefit for you.

So remember, for best results, don’t just wash your face – make sure that you cleanse tone and moisturise!
